Undoubtedly, the cow dung paint is one of the most striking and highly innovative cow dung products developed so far in the country. The following are the main and most important facts and features associated with this revolutionary cow dung-based paint.

Inauguration:

Ingeniously developed by The Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC), this organic paint, touted as being the India’s first eco-friendly and non-toxic dung-based paint (termed by KVIC as the Prakritik Paint) was launched formally on 12th January 2021 by the eminent BJP Leader and Union Minister (for Road Transport and Highways and MSME) Shri Nitin Gadkari with great enthusiasm and hopes. It is highly informative to note that just within one month of its gracious launch, around 5000 liters of this dung paint had been sold, and about 275 highly enthusiastic entrepreneurs had registered with KVIC for finding cow dung paint manufacturing training at KNHPI, Jaipur.

Objectives:

The main and ultimate aims behind inventing this cow dung-based paint (available in two forms, informed below) are the following ---- to introduce a chemical-free and eco-friendly paint; to increase monetary incomes to farmers and gaushalas, to encourage employment in rural areas, to secure health & vitality in villages as well as in cities, to facilitate a curtailment on home furnishing, and to preserve a sustainable environment in villages and in the whole nation at large.

Qualities & Benefits:

Currently available in two distinct forms (as distemper paint and the plastic emulsion paint), these cow dung paints hold an array of very impressive qualities and benefits. Each of these dung paints is non-toxic and hence eco-friendly; low in cost (Rs. 120 per liter for the distemper, and Rs. 225 per liter for the plastic emulsion}; holds anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties; is odorless (available in while and other colors); has been duly certified by the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS); holds impressive properties in connection with hassle-free application of the paint, thinning, drying time (less than 4 hrs), and uniform sleek finish. Moreover, this cow dung paint is equally suitable for the interiors and exteriors of any building.
